Brian and his wife Shannon (college sweethearts) have been married for 17 years, and they have four little ones - Temperance, Ian, Asher, and Ellie Caroline. He's an enthusiastic (albeit not-too-speedy) runner, a devoted coffee drinker, plays guitar at a mediocre level, unashamedly enjoys reading mysteries and "children's" literature, and used to have hair.
Brian Phillips is the Headmaster of The CiRCE Academy and Director of CiRCE Consulting, in addition to writing a regular column for the Institute.
Having been involved in classical education for over a decade, Brian has served as a Head of Rhetoric School and a teacher of humanities and rhetoric. He is the pastor of Holy Trinity Reformed Church in Concord, NC, and an adjunct faculty member at Belmont Abbey College. He is the author/editor of Sunday Mornings: An Introduction to Biblical Worship, the third edition of Classical Education: The Movement Sweeping America, The Space Between: A Guide to the Iliad, The Journey Home: A Guide to the Odyssey, Tales of Wonder, and the Canon Classics guide to the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius.
He has a B.A. and M.A. in Theological Studies, as well as an Ed.D. in Humanities/Classical Education.
